Talking in a current episode of the Feminine Poets Society podcast, Kidjo urged her colleagues to be voices of the folks and never voices of the facility.
“My father all the time used to say to us, particularly to me as a singer, don’t write music for any political occasion as a result of they arrive they usually go, and as soon as they’re gone, you go together with it.
“Write your music together with your opinions, be free writing your music. Don’t be offered to anyone as a result of subsequently, you don’t develop into the voice of the folks anymore, you develop into the voice of the facility. And when that energy shifted, you’re off the window,” she recalled.
