    Voter apathy greatest enemy of Anambra’s democracy —INEC Chair Amupitan

    The chairman of the Unbiased Nationwide Electoral Fee, INEC, Prof Joash Amupitan, has stated that the best enemy of Anambra’s democracy shouldn’t be solely exterior violence however voter apathy.

    Prof Amupitan made this comment at a press convention on Thursday in Abuja, interesting to eligible voters in Anambra State to come back out en masse to forged their ballots in Saturday’s governorship election.

    He highlighted a worrying historic decline in voter participation within the state.

    “The best enemy to Anambra’s democracy isn’t just exterior violence however voter apathy.

    “Within the 2013 governorship election, turnout was solely 25.5 per cent. In 2017, it dropped additional to twenty.10 per cent.
    “In 2021, the state of affairs deteriorated sharply with a mere 10.27 per cent turnout,” he stated.
