    Temporary disruption hits SIM services nationwide

    The Affiliation of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) says there might be non permanent disruption of SIM-related providers throughout all cell networks in Nigeria.

    ALTON disclosed this in an announcement signed on Tuesday by its Chairman, Mr Gbenga Adebayo, and Publicity Secretary, Mr Damian Udeh.

    Adebayo mentioned the disruption follows a directive from the Nationwide Identification Administration Fee (NIMC) to modify to a brand new identification verification platform.

    He defined that the migration course of has triggered unexpected technical challenges, affecting the supply of SIM providers nationwide.

    “The brand new platform goals to enhance the integrity and effectivity of identification administration programs.

    “Nonetheless, the transition has quickly hindered Cellular Community Operators from providing seamless SIM-related providers,” he mentioned.

    He mentioned operators is not going to course of SIM swaps, replacements, new activations, or associated providers throughout this era.

    “ALTON and member corporations are working with the Nigerian Communications Fee, NIMC, and different authorities to repair the mixing points.

    “We remorse the inconvenience and urge subscribers to delay SIM-related requests till additional discover,” he suggested.

    Adebayo assured the general public of continued dedication to safe and high-quality telecoms providers.
