    ‘Take over Rivers assembly now’ – APC leaders tell NASS amid impeachment threat

    Civil society organisations, media professionals, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress, APC on Friday, staged a protest on the APC Secretariat, Abuja, demanding pressing Nationwide Meeting intervention in Rivers State’s escalating political disaster.

    They urged lawmakers to invoke Part 11(4) of the Structure to imagine the Rivers State Home of Meeting’s features, citing the meeting’s “complete lack of credibility and legitimacy.”

    The teams on the rally, condemned the meeting’s impeachment push towards Governor Siminalayi Fubara, describing it as a “reckless abuse of energy” threatening democracy.

    In line with the APC leaders: “The Rivers State Home of Meeting has misplaced all credibility on account of persistent abuse of legislative powers and a determined impeachment plot.”

    Addressing journalists, the APC Leaders Discussion board spokesperson Chief Eze Chukwuemeka, mentioned: “That is now not oversight—it’s a vendetta to destabilise governance. Silence now’s complicity!”

    They praised Rivers Chief Choose Justice Simeon Amadi for rejecting calls to represent a probe panel, calling it a “daring stand for the rule of regulation.”

    Coordinator of the Civil Society group, Comrade Blessing Ibama mentioned:”No shred of proof exhibits gross misconduct by Governor Fubara—the allegations are pure political fiction. “The meeting’s procedural lawlessness and disrespect for court docket orders make it unfit for responsibility.”

    Accusing 27 lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, led by Martins Amaewhule of fueling the disaster, the coalition alleged that the lawmakers collected humongous cash operating to million for constituency funds, luxurious SUVs, and a 12 months’s advance wage per lawmaker.

    The protesters vowed to maintain motion till the Nationwide Meeting acts.

    “We name on Nigerians to mobilise peacefully on the Nationwide Meeting and crush this legislative anarchy,” Ibama urged.

    “Governor Fubara has proven prudence for our individuals—Rivers received’t be a sacrificial lamb to political desperation.”
    The coalition affirmed Governor Fubara’s dedication to Rivers’ welfare and pledged unity to revive constitutional order.

    The protest was attended by civil society organizations led by its Convener, Comrade Ifeanyi Okorie and Dr. Maryann Douglas
