A Yoruba socio-political organisation, Suppose Yoruba First Group, has declared that the Yoruba individuals is not going to enable outsiders to dictate what occurs of their land.

In a press release, the group’s Public Relations Officer, Ogbeni Oluwole Lewis, made this declaration in response to Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s response to the renaming of streets in Lagos.

He mentioned “We received’t outsource, lease or hire out our sovereignty and birthright to any settler colony, irrespective of what number of statements or noise they make; this resolution is non-negotiable!”

He careworn that Yoruba share no ancestral or historic hyperlinks with Lagos and that the choice to rename streets is a matter for Yoruba to resolve.

“The conference worldwide is for settlers to respect the host communities and their proper to make choices; whoever feels wronged by choices taken by Yoruba in Yorubaland is constitutionally empowered and suggested to relocate.”

The group warned that Yoruba reserve the appropriate to offer streets of their land any names they want, and that migrants or settlers don’t have any proper to dictate such choices.

He suggested settlers to organize for extra modifications within the weeks forward, stating that the names of locations should mirror the cultural ties of the locals.

“We aren’t obliged to even have interaction or debate such modifications with settlers, the second we begin permitting outsiders to dictate such, it stops being Yorubaland.”
