    UYO —AKWA Ibom State authorities has delisted 2,208 suspected ghost employees from its payroll.

    The state Head of Service, HOS,  Effiong Essien, famous that the event, ensuing from latest employees verification train, knowledgeable Governor Umo Eno’s approval for recruitment of three,000 personnel to strengthen the state’s workforce.

    Talking, yesterday, heralding the state’s 2025 Public Service Week, Essien additionally disclosed that the governor has cleared N60 billion of a complete N90 billion Akwa Ibom State employees pension and gratuity arrears he inherited on assumption of workplace.

    The HOS said: “The verification train was opened to 55,000 public servants on the payroll. Lower than 53,000 employees turned up, resulting in the hunting down of two,208 from the system. That created vacancies within the service.

    “The governor has authorised recruitment of 3000 employees,-1000 employees to the primary service of the state, 1000 as medical personnel and 1000 into the instructing service.

    “Additionally he has authorised 2025 promotion for public servants within the state, authorised and launched N2.5billion for clearing backlog of seven.5 per cent contributory pension scheme that was suspended in 2013.”

    Authorities Space in Delta State has given a one-month ultimatum to herdsmen working within the council to restrain their cattle and obey the Delta State Anti-Open Grazing Prohibition Legislation.

    Chairman of the council,  Pastor Jude Chukwunwike, issued the directive at a high-level stakeholders’ safety assembly in Ogwashi-Uku, the headquarters of the council.

    Former governor of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, signed the Delta State Anti-Open Grazing Prohibition Legislation, which bans the motion of cattle on foot inside the state and encourages the event of ranching techniques to cut back insecurity and land degradation, on September 30, 2021.

    Many farmers have fled their farms in Aniocha North and different components of the state on account of assaults and kidnapping by felony herders, and the directive appears to be the primary daring try by any native authority to handle the rising insecurity in its space.

    Throughout the assembly, the council profiled and documented authorized cattle rearers within the space to enhance accountability, monitoring, and peaceable coexistence.

    “We have now tolerated sufficient. I’m giving all herders within the Aniocha South only one month to adjust to the provisions of the Anti-Open Grazing Legislation.  After this era, safety operatives will start full enforcement with out compromise,” Chukwunwike mentioned.

    He instructed native vigilante teams, safety outfits and all regulation enforcement businesses within the space to collaborate carefully for efficient surveillance and enforcement, warning that defaulters can be arrested and prosecuted beneath the regulation.

    Chukwunwike expressed concern over the recurring incidents of crop destruction, violent assaults on farmers by herders, and threats to the livelihoods of rural dwellers.

    The stakeholders, who described the transfer as well timed and crucial to revive confidence amongst farmers and forestall additional breakdown of regulation and order, unanimously adopted the decision.
