Singer, Duncan Mighty has claimed that him and different artists from Port Harcourt layed the muse for at the moment’s Afrobeats.
Talking in a current interview with Hip TV, Duncan Mighty defined that artists from Port Harcourt resembling himself, Timaya, Burna Boy and Omah Lay have influenced the Afrobeats scene in a manner that the slags and sounds of the town have been included into the style.
“In nearly each Afrobeats track at the moment you may hear the Port Harcourt affect, particularly the Ikwerri slangs.
“You’ll be able to’t hear any Afrobeats track at the moment and you’ll not hear a spice of Port Harcourt. Nearly each Afrobeats track at the moment has the flavour of Port Harcourt sound.
“I, Burna Boy, Timaya, Omah Lay and Port Harcourt sound constructed the muse of at the moment’s Afrobeats,” he claimed.
Duncan Mighty’s claims sparked blended reactions, with many countering him for “overemphasising” Port Harcourt and its artistes’ influences on Afrobeats.
