    Police confirm bandits burning of police station, church in Niger

    The Police Command in Niger, has confirmed that suspected armed bandits set ablaze a Police Station and a part of a church in Agwara group within the early hours of Sunday.

    The Police Public Relations Officer within the state, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed this in a press release in Minna on Sunday.

    Abiodun stated that the assault occurred at about 3:40 a.m., when the bandits invaded the Agwara Police Station.

    He stated that the police tactical group on obligation engaged the attackers, including that the bandits later overpowered the officers and used suspected dynamite to set the station on fireplace.

    In accordance with him, the assailants subsequently moved to the United Methodist Church (UMC) in the neighborhood, the place they burnt a part of the church constructing.

    The police spokesman additionally stated that the bandits later proceeded to different areas of the group and kidnapped about 5 individuals, whose identities had but to be ascertained.

    “The state of affairs is being monitored, and additional developments will likely be communicated in the end,” he stated.

    He assured that safety businesses had commenced investigations and intensified efforts to trace the perpetrators and rescue the kidnapped victims.
