    Photos: Eight buildings collapse after heavy downpour in Maiduguri

    MAIDUGURI — No less than eight buildings collapsed on Wednesday following a heavy downpour that triggered widespread flooding throughout Maiduguri Metropolis and Jere Native Authorities Space of Borno State.

    The Borno State Police Command, in response to the incident, swiftly launched on-the-ground assessments to guage the harm, deploy safety personnel, and stop additional dangers to life and property.

    Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Kenneth Daso, disclosed in a press release that the rainfall affected a number of communities, together with Gomari, Bulumkutu, Jidari, and ITE, amongst others. Whereas eight buildings collapsed, no casualties had been reported.

    “To forestall any breakdown of regulation and order, the Command has stationed officers at strategic places to guard evacuated houses and properties from potential looting or felony actions,” the assertion famous.

    The Deputy Commissioner of Police in control of Operations, DC Garba Audu Bosso, led the response efforts alongside ACP Jawi Muhammed and several other Divisional Police Officers.

    Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, counseled the speedy response of officers and urged residents to stay calm and law-abiding. He additionally cautioned mother and father and guardians to maintain their youngsters away from floodwaters as a result of excessive threat of drowning and waterborne ailments.
