Peter Obi, the Labour Get together’s presidential flagbearer within the 2023 election, has criticised President Bola Tinubu for allegedly presenting inaccurate statistics to obscure the nation’s worsening financial state of affairs.
In a publish on X (previously Twitter) on Monday, Obi stated Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate over the past election, as soon as ridiculed his emphasis on knowledge when discussing governance.
“In November 2022, whereas campaigning in Delta state, Tinubu stated he was ashamed to name my title and mocked me, saying, ‘Na statistics we go chop? All I would like is to place meals on the desk of Nigerians,” Obi stated.
“Now, two years into his four-year tenure, Nigeria is ranked among the many hungriest nations on this planet, with hundreds of thousands not sure of the place their subsequent meal will come from.”
Obi went on to accuse the president of counting on what he described as “false knowledge” to misrepresent the true state of the economic system.
“President Tinubu is now overfeeding Nigerians with flawed statistics — from unemployment figures to inflation charges and now GDP rebasing — all to color a rosy image of our deteriorating financial and family circumstances,” Obi added.
He burdened that efficient management have to be anchored on fact, imaginative and prescient, and integrity, stating, “Governance shouldn’t be rocket science. It’s not of venture. It requires sincerity of function, character, competence, capability and compassion.”
