The Oyo State Authorities has debunked rumours that the Bola Ige Market, Gbagi, Ibadan, could be closed on Monday.
A press release issued on Sunday in Ibadan by the Commissioner for Funding, Commerce, Cooperatives and Trade, Mr Adeniyi Adebisi, described the report as unfounded.
Adebisi assured merchants, store house owners, and members of the general public that the market would stay open, dismissing the hypothesis because the handiwork of mischief-makers.
He described the rumours as false, baseless, and a deliberate try and trigger pointless pressure inside the enterprise group.
The commissioner careworn that the Bola Ige Market remained a significant hub of business actions within the state, including that the federal government had no plans to close it down.
“We urge merchants and the general public to ignore this deceptive info being unfold by unscrupulous components whose purpose is to disrupt peace and regular enterprise operations.
“So regular actions will proceed with none hindrance on Monday and past,” he stated.
The Commissioner additional appealed to the general public to disregard false info and rely solely on official statements from related authorities.
