Nigeria’s export promotion company mentioned on Monday that its non-oil exports rose 19.6 per cent to $3.225 billion within the first half of 2025. The company cited international demand for merchandise corresponding to cocoa and urea, authorities commerce initiatives, and regional commerce offers.
Chief government of Nigeria’s Export Promotion Council, Nonye Ayeni, mentioned the amount of non-oil exports elevated to 4.04 million metric tons from 3.83 million tons within the first half of 2024.
Merchandise corresponding to cocoa beans, urea/fertiliser, and cashew nuts dominated exports, with cocoa accounting for round 35 per cent of whole export worth.
“Cocoa and its derivatives topped Nigeria’s non-oil exports, pushed by rising international demand, greater costs, and elevated native processing capability,” Ayeni mentioned.
“Non-oil merchandise exported within the first half of 2025 have been valued at $3.225bn. This reveals a rise of 19.59 per cent as in opposition to the sum of $2.696bn recorded for the primary half of the 12 months 2024,” she mentioned.
The NEPC boss famous that the expansion in export worth was matched by an increase in cargo quantity, recalling that within the first quarter alone, non-oil exports have been valued at $1.791bn, a 24.75 per cent rise over the $1.436bn posted in Q1 2024.
Volumes in the identical quarter elevated to 2.416 million metric tonnes, up 24.3 per cent from the 1.937 million metric tonnes shipped within the corresponding interval final 12 months.

Ayeni mentioned Indorama Eleme Fertiliser Ltd. topped the listing of exporters, adopted by Starlink World and Dangote Fertiliser Ltd.
