    NIMASA commits to shipyard evelopment, capital flight cuts

    The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Security Company, NIMASA, has reiterated its dedication to strengthening Nigeria’s shipbuilding and shipyard improvement as a part of efforts to deepen the blue economic system and curb capital flight.

    Talking at a stakeholders’ breakfast assembly organised by the Company themed: “Dissecting the Points, Challenges, and Prospects within the Shipbuilding Section – Discussing Funding Fashions, Incentives, and Coverage Help for Shipyards Progress,” NIMASA’s Government Director, Operations, Engr. Fatai Taiye Adeyemi famous that shipbuilding stays a capital-intensive, cyclical and technically demanding sector that requires deliberate coverage and monetary interventions to attain sustainable development.

    Adeyemi, who was represented by the Director, Marine Atmosphere Administration, Dr. Oma Offodile, mentioned the breakfast assembly was designed to offer a transparent evaluation of the structural challenges confronting the shipbuilding section and to collectively agree on pragmatic funding fashions, incentives and coverage choices able to driving aggressive shipyard development in Nigeria.

    He mentioned: “Shipbuilding is a strategic pillar of Nigeria’s maritime and blue economic system aspirations. It’s capital-intensive, technically demanding and extremely aggressive, which is why deliberate funding fashions, focused incentives and constant insurance policies are essential.

    “Via engagements like these, NIMASA is working with trade stakeholders to handle structural constraints, construct native capability, curb capital flight and place Nigerian shipyards to compete sustainably, whereas supporting decarbonisation, job creation and our obligations on the Worldwide Maritime Organisation,” he mentioned.
