Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday declared that the political disaster in Rivers State can be resolved by the Nationwide Meeting.
Akpabio stated the Nationwide Meeting would play a key position in guaranteeing political stability and restoring peace within the state.
He disclosed that efforts had been underway to deal with the foundation causes of the disaster and foster reconciliation amongst aggrieved stakeholders.
The Senate President spoke through the commissioning of the Kugbo Taxi and Bus Terminal within the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
“We’re decided to make sure that normalcy returns to Rivers State. The Nationwide Meeting will work intently with all events concerned to make sure lasting peace and progress for the individuals,” Akpabio stated.
The political disaster in Rivers State had led to the suspension of Governor Sim Fubara, his deputy, and the state legislature, three months in the past.
President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara for six months whereas declaring a state of emergency.
Since his suspension, Fubara had met with Tinubu and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, his estranged political godfather, in a transfer to push for reconciliation.
Lately, Wike, who expressed readiness for reconciliation, had charged Fubara to fulfill with different aggrieved stakeholders within the state for settlement.
