The committee chairman, GOP Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, instructed “CBS Mornings” on Wednesday that there was “a lack of public belief in ICE and their officers after seeing what’s been happening in Minneapolis,” whereas citing “fault on either side.”

Outlining what he hopes to listen to from witnesses, Paul stated, “We wish to hear either side on this.”

“However we’re additionally going to ask the ICE heads and people at DHS, we will ask them, ‘What’s the correct use of drive?'” Paul stated. “‘When ought to brokers be drawing their weapons? When ought to they be firing their weapons?’ And if these heads of those businesses refuse to reply these questions, it’ll be an actual downside.”

Paul stated: “When a mistake of this magnitude occurs, the very first thing needs to be an apology and it needs to be remorse, it needs to be disappointment and it needs to be, ‘We’re going to do higher, and that is the coverage, and we’re going to ensure it is enforced.'” He credited Tom Homan with “doing higher.” Homan is the White Home border czar who has taken over operations in Minnesota.

The Kentucky Republican stated the general public must “know the best way to behave, too.”

“Do you’ve gotten an opportunity of being shot if you happen to take a weapon and have a correct license for a weapon to a rally?” Paul stated. “Might you be shot if you happen to’re yelling at ICE officers? Might you be shot if you happen to’re gesticulating?”

He stated the heads of the immigration enforcement businesses should be able to reply the questions, noting that their testimony on the Home listening to earlier this week was “largely side-stepping.”
