KANO—Tragedy struck in Kano yesterday when a 30-year-old man, recognized as Mutawakilu Ibrahim, allegedly stabbed his grandparents, Muhammad Dansokoto and Hadiza Tasidi, to dying following an altercation over meals.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna, mentioned the suspect, believed to have been beneath the affect of intoxicants, used a knife to stab each victims a number of occasions, inflicting extreme accidents.
The victims have been rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, the place medical personnel confirmed them useless. Their corpses have been later launched to their kin for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
In line with the police assertion: “On September 25, 2025, at about 9:30 a.m., a resident of Kofar Dawanau Quarters reported that one Mutawakilu Ibrahim, aged 30, had a quarrel together with his grandparents, Muhammad Dansokoto, aged 75, and Hadiza Tasidi, aged 65, over a food-related disagreement.
“In the course of the altercation, the suspect allegedly used a knife to stab each victims in varied elements of their our bodies, inflicting extreme accidents. The suspect, suspected to be beneath the affect of intoxicants, has since been arrested.”
Haruna added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Legal Investigation Division (SCID), Murder Part, for discreet investigation.
He assured that the suspect can be charged to courtroom upon completion of investigations.
