There was stress in Abuja on Tuesday over the alleged unlawful acquisition of land by some army officers, resulting in a confrontation between Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and a army officer on responsibility on the Gaduwa District, Abuja.

BusinessDay findings reveal that since assuming workplace in August 2023, Wike has confronted an uphill process reclaiming lands allegedly acquired illegally by highly effective people within the FCT.

Throughout a go to to the district, the minister reportedly found the alleged unlawful land occupation, which led to a heated alternate of phrases with personnel of the Nigerian Military over a disputed parcel of land within the space.

Wike and his entourage had been stated to have engaged in a tense face-off with armed troopers who occupied the contentious web site, stopping the minister and his crew from having access to the land.

The disagreement centred on possession and allocation rights to the property, which each the FCT Administration and the Nigerian Military declare to regulate.

The scenario escalated when troopers stationed on the web site blocked the minister’s convoy, sparking a heated verbal alternate between Wike and one of many officers.

Visibly annoyed, Wike accused the troopers of obstructing authorities officers from performing their duties, whereas the officer insisted that he was performing on lawful orders.

Following the confrontation, the minister threatened to make sure that the troopers had been evacuated from the land.

Wike accused the army of illegally occupying the world — an allegation the officer on responsibility vehemently denied.

“I’m right here primarily based on the orders of my boss,” the officer reportedly replied.

Because the alternate of phrases continued, Wike and his entourage finally turned again.

“Let me see how you’ll develop the land,” Wike was heard saying angrily because the ministerial crew departed from the positioning.
