    Lagos warns event centres against traffic obstruction

    The Lagos State Authorities has warned social occasion venues in opposition to obstructing visitors movement inside the state via unauthorised use of public roads.

    The warning was issued by Olalekan Bakare-Oki, Normal Supervisor of the Lagos State Site visitors Administration Authority (LASTMA), in a press release on Sunday.

    Bakare-Oki gave the warning throughout on-the-spot inspections at a number of traffic-prone corridors throughout Lagos.

    He expressed concern over the rising pattern of lavish occasions encroaching on public roads, which causes avoidable gridlock and hinders emergency entry routes.

    He stated such actions topic motorists and commuters to pointless hardship and should be addressed decisively.

    Bakare-Oki affirmed that the Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration stays dedicated to sustaining self-discipline, equity, and order on all roads in Lagos.

    He said that the state would now not tolerate the unlawful conversion of public roads into occasion parking or overflow areas.

    “No particular person or organisation, no matter standing, has the precise to annex public roads for personal or leisure use,” he stated.

    He added that any membership, corridor, or social venue discovered responsible of blocking entry roads or roadside encroachment will face penalties and authorized motion.

    To reinforce enforcement, Bakare-Oki directed all LASTMA items to enhance intelligence gathering and enhance patrols, particularly on weekends and through festive seasons.

    He urged venue homeowners to behave responsibly by hiring licensed visitors personnel or working with LASTMA to create event-specific visitors plans.
