Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has accredited an extra ₦6 billion for the fourth batch of gratuity, loss of life advantages, and different retirement entitlements for state staff and their households.
The announcement was made throughout a briefing by the Govt Chairman of the Kano State Pension Board, who offered a complete report on the most recent Gratuity Cost Plan to the Governor.
This newest disbursement brings the whole sum paid by the present administration to ₦27 billion, addressing a good portion of the ₦48.6 billion backlog of gratuities and loss of life advantages inherited from the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (2016–2023).
“Our authorities is dedicated to fulfilling its obligations to retirees and the households of deceased staff who served the state faithfully,” Governor Yusuf said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to clear the excellent pension and gratuity liabilities by strategic, phased funds.
Prioritising Staff’ Welfare
The Kano State Authorities has made the settlement of pension and gratuity arrears a cornerstone of its social welfare coverage since assuming workplace in 2023. The governor emphasised that well timed cost of retirement advantages not solely restores dignity to retirees but in addition stimulates financial exercise throughout the state.
