Nigerian lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi has raised the alarm that it’s changing into more and more harmful to talk below the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Farotimi acknowledged this on Thursday in an interview throughout Channels Tv’s Morning Temporary.

The previous spokesperson for the 2023 presidential marketing campaign of the Labour Celebration stated it’s tough to pinpoint if Tinubu’s administration leans in direction of army dictatorship or democracy.

Based on him, Nigerians aren’t feeling the breeze of democracy as projected by Tinubu.

“Within the administration of Tinubu, there may be the paradox of whether or not we’re in a army dictatorship or a democracy. It is rather straightforward to overlook precisely what sort of authorities we now have in place. The extent of despair of free speech and the readiness to criminalise each civic disagreement.

“It’s changing into more and more harmful to talk; I don’t know the way a lot of that is traceable to the President or his temperament. Sadly, when the fish rots, it begins from the top. There’s at all times any individual on whose desktop the buck should cease. The fact is that Nigeria is extra repressed than it’s on this second. Nigerians are feeling the type of breeze the president is projecting,” he acknowledged.

This comes as President Tinubu, in his Democracy Day speech on June 12, stated he was assured that the nation’s democracy is just not invisible however alive.

“Our democracy is just not invincible, however it’s alive,” he acknowledged.
