Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar over his frequent defections throughout Nigeria’s main political events, saying his actions are pushed by a determined ambition to turn out to be president.

Talking throughout a media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike questioned Atiku’s political consistency and described his motion from one occasion to a different as unbecoming, particularly for somebody nearing 80 years of age.

“Atiku was within the PDP in 1999, then he joined the Motion Congress (AC). After AC, he returned to the PDP, later moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC), after which again to the PDP once more, all in pursuit of the presidential ticket,” Wike stated.

He continued with a private jibe, “If I have been his son, I might sit him down and ask: ‘Dad, how will you hold hopping from one occasion to a different at nearly 80 years outdated?’”

The minister stated this whereas reacting to Abubakar’s newest defection from the Peoples Democratic Get together (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a part of an rising opposition coalition aimed toward difficult President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Wike dismissed the transfer, describing it as nothing greater than political survival.

“The best way the PDP is now, it’s not probably that Atiku would get a ticket, due to this fact it’s not snug. Subsequently, he tells you, ‘let’s do a coalition in opposition to Tinubu.’ It’s not proper,” he stated.

“It’s as a result of he can’t get the presidential ticket beneath the PDP that he pushed for a coalition.”
