Afrobeats singer Folarin Odunlami, popularly generally known as Fola, has recounted how he was arrested and made to spend an evening on the police station on the day he relocated to Lagos to pursue a profession in music.
The ‘Alone’ crooner acknowledged that the incident demoralised him and virtually made him to surrender on his goals.
Talking in a current interview with The Beat 99.9 FM Lagos, Fola defined that his resilience has helped him to adapt to Lagos’ bustling way of life.
“I relocated to Lagos in 2018 to pursue my music profession. It has been tough however… I wasn’t born right here, so it was so laborious at first however I’ve tailored to each the residing situations and the hustle.
“The very first day I got here to Lagos, I assumed arrested. I slept on the police station. It was an extended story. I don’t wish to keep in mind it. I virtually gave up,” he recalled.
Fola gained prominence after he was signed to well-known singer Bella Shurmda’s Dagbani Republik in October 2024.
Since releasing his breakthrough tune, ‘Alone’, Fola has collaborated with Afrobeats stars equivalent to Wizkid and Kizz Daniel.
