The political rift between Abia State Governor Alex Otti and the Deputy Speaker of the Home of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has deepened because the state’s Chief Liaison Officer to the Nationwide Meeting, Chief Iheanyi Chinasa, berated Kalu over his latest feedback on a $263.8 million mortgage facility obtained by the state authorities.

The ability was secured for the Abia State Built-in Infrastructural Growth Venture ABSIID, an initiative geared toward accelerating infrastructure improvement throughout the state.

Based on Chinasa, the credit score facility got here from a consortium of three banks — Islamic Growth Financial institution ($125 million), African Growth Financial institution (AfDB) ($100 million), and Canada–Africa Growth Financial institution ($15 million) — with Abia State Authorities contributing $23.8 million as counterpart funding.

Chinasa, who hails from the identical constituency because the Deputy Speaker, accused Kalu of “crying wolf the place there may be none,” stressing that the state has not drawn a single kobo from the ability.

“These funds are nonetheless with the banks. The state has not drawn a single kobo from them as I converse. This info is within the public area for anybody to confirm,” he said.

He faulted the Deputy Speaker for allegedly peddling “false narratives” to discredit Governor Otti’s administration and described his remarks as politically motivated.

“Why does the Deputy Speaker prefer to misinform the general public? Is that this desperation to create controversy or to current himself as being persecuted for the President’s sake?” Chinasa queried.

He mentioned it was “surprising” for Kalu to demand outcomes from a mortgage that had but to be disbursed, accusing him of making an attempt to blackmail the state authorities at each alternative.

Chinasa suggested Kalu to give attention to representing Bende Federal Constituency successfully and to “cease his unprovoked assaults towards Governor Otti.”

“If he thinks he has the recognition and capability to compete with Governor Otti, he ought to look forward to 2027 and contest,” Chinasa added.

He maintained that Governor Otti had carried out creditably with out there assets and deserved commendation, not criticism.

The strain between each camps escalated after Kalu lately claimed that developments in Abia State weren’t commensurate with the funds accruing to the state, including that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ought to be praised for growing federal allocations following the elimination of gas subsidy.
