The suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has held a face-to-face peace assembly with the suspended Speaker of the State Home of Meeting, Martins Amaewhule, and different aggrieved lawmakers, marking a big growth within the extended political standoff within the state.
Sources confirmed on Thursday night that the assembly, held behind closed doorways in Abuja, ended on a cordial word, with each males seen holding palms and sharing light-hearted moments.
This assembly is the primary direct reconciliation effort between Fubara and the lawmakers for the reason that disaster started.
Fubara was suspended from workplace on March 19 after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State to handle escalating tensions.
The Nationwide Meeting later accredited the measure, appointing the previous Chief of Naval Employees, Vice-Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas (retd), to take cost of the state’s affairs for six months.
Although Fubara had earlier met individually with President Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, the current engagement with lawmakers is being hailed because the clearest signal but of a possible decision.
Wike, a key participant within the battle, has constantly maintained that reconciliation should contain Fubara making amends with these he reportedly wronged, significantly members of the Home of Meeting, who have been allegedly denied salaries and allowances for over two years.
