    FG reaffirms support for local airlines as Air Peace launches Abuja–London flight

    The federal authorities has reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening indigenous airline operators, as Festus Keyamo, minister of Aviation and Aerospace Growth, led dignitaries to flag off Air Peace’s maiden direct flight from Abuja to London Heathrow on Sunday.

    Keyamo stated the milestone underscores President Bola Tinubu’s drive to empower Nigerian carriers and improve their competitiveness within the international aviation market.

    “With the clear mandate from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make sure that native carriers thrive and survive, we went to work. We found that during the last 4 many years, greater than 100 airways have come and gone.

    “Our mission is to alter that by offering the help and surroundings wanted for native operators to develop sustainably,” Keyamo stated.

    Allen Onyema, chairman of Air Peace, recommended the minister for his swift coverage interventions, citing the removing of a 4 p.c FOB cost on aviation imports for example of the federal government’s renewed dedication to the trade.

    “I bear in mind when Customs imposed a 4 p.c FOB cost on aviation imports. We approached the Honourable Minister, and inside every week, that cost was eliminated.
