Expertise large, Meta, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economic system; Nationwide Centre for Synthetic Intelligence and Robotics, NCAIR and Nationwide Data Expertise Improvement Company, NITDA, has launched an initiative referred to as the Llama Affect Accelerator.
The companions defined that the programme would help startups harnessing synthetic intelligence, AI, to develop native options that deal with safety, security, healthcare, and agriculture.
The eight-month programme is designed to help early-stage startups, leveraging open-source Llama fashions to deal with key nationwide and regional challenges.
The programme may even encourage daring, unique functions of AI in different sectors, with high-impact potential.
Head of Public Coverage, Anglophone West Africa at Meta, Sade Dada, mentioned: “We’re excited to accomplice with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economic system to launch this AI Accelerator in Nigeria, a rustic with a strong innovation ecosystem.”
On his half, Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economic system, Dr. Bosun Tijani, mentioned: “This partnership marks a significant step ahead in our mission to develop a thriving AI ecosystem in Nigeria.
“We see AI as a key driver for nationwide growth, and this programme by Meta will equip innovators with the precise instruments and steerage to deal with a few of our most urgent points.”
Purposes for this initiative, that are open till June 27, 2025, are a part of Meta’s broader dedication to democratizing entry to accountable AI and supporting native innovation in Nigeria.
