Federal authorities has launched a Life-Jacket Initiative, urging water commuters to prioritise security and cling strictly to pointers to stop recurring boat mishaps nationwide.
Minister of Marine and Blue Financial system, Adegboyega Oyetola, disclosed this in an announcement on Friday by way of Mrs Anastasia Ogbonna, the director of Info and Communications.
Oyetola was represented by Mr Hussieni Shettima, director of Marine Conservation, Innovation and Expertise, on the launch of the initiative in Taraba State.
He famous that distributing life-jackets is a part of the federal government’s continued efforts to enhance security on Nigeria’s inland waterways.
“The Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Financial system, in collaboration with the Taraba authorities, has taken a significant step to reinforce water transport security.
“An important batch of life-jackets was formally handed over to the Nationwide Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Jalingo Space Workplace, as we speak.
“This milestone marks an essential part within the ongoing marketing campaign to scale back accidents on Taraba State’s waterways,” Oyetola stated.
He emphasised that joint efforts between federal and state our bodies would yield concrete, life-saving outcomes for native water customers.
Oyetola defined that the jackets would enhance security for these counting on the Benue, Donga, and Taraba rivers for journey and commerce.
