Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, who sponsored the invoice to drive the discharge of the recordsdata, stated he was stunned by the president’s help for the vote after months of pushback.
“I used to be very stunned,” Khanna stated Tuesday on “CBS Mornings.” “He was combating Thomas Massie and me for 5 months. They shut down Congress over this. They hauled in members of Congress to the scenario room to attempt to get them off the petition. That they had the members of the Cupboard intimidate them. Donald Trump un-endorsed Marjorie, Taylor Greene, threatening different members to not vote for our invoice.”
Khanna went on to say he believed “there have been going to be 70, 80 Republicans who would have voted for this invoice in defiance for him. I am glad that he stated he is signing it.”
The California Democrat outlined two issues that he sees as essential going ahead: first, that Mr. Trump meets with the survivors. And second, now that the president stated he’ll signal this invoice, he stated “they should not play video games within the Senate.”
“They need to take this up immediately and cross it,” Khanna stated.
Khanna stated “as soon as the recordsdata are launched, I believe it may shock the nation.”
“There are wealthy and highly effective males who both abused these younger women or who’ve coated it up, and a few of these folks nonetheless are on company boards, they nonetheless have scholarships named after them, they’ve buildings named after them. And the American persons are going to be shocked once they study this. And what the survivors need is for these names to come back out and for them to be held accountable.”
Khanna added, “the information want to come back out, and whoever is caught up with it must be held accountable, Democrat or Republican.”
