    Electoral Act Amendment: Falana, Utomi, Agbakoba, Bugaje, others for media rally today

    ABUJA- THE Motion for Credible Elections, MCE, a coalition of leaders of organised civil society and labour motion, has mentioned it will protest over electoral reforms on the Nationwide Meeting at the moment.

    The protest will even function such personalities as human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN; Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN; Prof Pat Utomi; Dr. Usman Bugaje; NLC President, Joe Ajaero; former NLC President, Ayuba Wabba; Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, and Senator Shehu Sani, amongst others.

    They’re billed to deal with a media rally in help of the protest.

    In a press release signed yesterday in Abuja by MCE Media Coordinator, Comrade James Ezema, the coalition defined that the motion was aimed toward intensifying civic strain on the legislature to undertake complete widespread electoral reforms as demanded by Nigerians and outlined in MCE’s public petition submitted to the Nationwide Meeting final month.

    In response to the assertion, Head of MCE nationwide secretariat, veteran political activist, Comrade Olawale Okunniyi, said that the media rally represented a continuation of peaceable democratic engagement to make sure that electoral legal guidelines mirrored the real will of the Nigerian individuals, forward of the 2027 common elections.

    He emphasised that credible elections remained basic to strengthening democracy, selling political accountability and restoring public confidence in governance.

    He added that MCE and its companions would maintain nationwide mass mobilisation till significant electoral reforms had been achieved.

    Additionally anticipated to deal with the media rally are Dr. Oby Ezekwesili; Prince Adewole Adebayo; Hadjia Bilikisu Magoro; Comrade Ene Obi; Alhaji Shettima Yerima; Prof Chidi Odinkalu; Comrade Promise Adewusi; Engr Bala Zakka; Dr. Sam Amadi; Comrade Malachy Ugwummadu; and Peter Randy Akah, amongst different leaders
    MCE reiterates its dedication to peaceable civic mass activism and referred to as on Nigerians to help efforts at securing credible and clear elections in 2027.
