    Ekiti mulls 65-year retirement age for teachers

    ADO-EKITI — GOVERNOR Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, yesterday, promised to contemplate a proposed 65 years retirement age for academics, upward evaluate of allowance payable to science academics, in addition to efforts to defray all excellent gratuity earlier than the top of his fist tenure.

    Oyebanji additionally assured academics within the state of extra welfare packages, describing them as vital brokers within the actualisation of the shared prosperity agenda of his administration.

    Governor Oyebanji said this in Ado- Ekiti whereas enjoying host to the brand new management of the Nigeria Union of Academics, NUT,, led by its Chairman, Mr Lawrence Egbeyemi and accompanied by the Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ekiti Chapter, Mr Kolapo Olusola.

    Oyebanji, in an announcement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode, in Ado- Ekiti, hailed the academics for his or her outstanding contribution to the human capital growth agenda of the administration,.

    The Governor stated their general well-being would have a multiplier impact on the federal government’s drive for high quality schooling for college students within the State.

    His phrases: “Let me begin on the be aware of appreciation to the NUT in your help earlier than I turned Governor and since I turned Governor of this state. The NUT is likely one of the unions that stand out in terms of help for our administration, and I’m extraordinarily grateful to you.”

    Earlier, in his remarks, the Chairman of NUT, Mr Lawrence Egbeyemi, who thanked Governor Oyebanji for exhibiting real love and concern for academics within the state, famous that the Governor has constantly positioned the welfare of academics on the forefront of his administration.

    He defined that beneath the current administration, academics have loved immediate cost of salaries, improved working situation, profession development of academics to grade stage 16, employment of over 2000 academics, and better recognition for his or her contributions.
