    Build consensus before demanding new Oyo State – Olubadan tells advocates

    The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has urged campaigners advocating the creation of a New Oyo State, with Oyo as its proposed capital, to place their home so as in the event that they hope to understand their ambition.

    Receiving the Committee on the Creation of Ibadan and New Oyo State on the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, Ibadan, yesterday, Oba Ladoja famous that whereas the creation of an Ibadan State is likely to be extra easy, disagreements over the title or potential capital of the proposed New Oyo State may develop into a stumbling block.

    He stated, “Iseyin is concerned with changing into a state capital. Agunrege is . Oyo is . Ogbomoso is just not speaking.”

    “All these cities, together with virgin lands, are certified to develop into state capitals.”

    “If fact have to be instructed, you have to construct consensus. You want compromise.”

    Addressing the delegation led by Engr Francis Adedayo and Prof Saheed Malik, the Olubadan confused that Oke-Ogun has ten native authorities areas whereas Ogbomoso has 4, asking, “How a lot of Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso illustration do we’ve got right here? You can’t want them away.”

    In his remarks, Dr Ojelabi Morakinyo from Ibarapa stated there was no dispute between Ibadan and Ibarapa, including that each zones “have come a great distance”.

    The assembly was attended by the Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, and the President-Common of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Barrister Sulaiman Ajewole.
