The Supreme Courtroom has affirmed the election of Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State.
In a unanimous determination delivered on Thursday, a five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba dismissed, for missing in advantage, the attraction filed by the Peoples Democratic Celebration, PDP, candidate, Asuerinme Ighodalo.
The attraction sought to nullify the result of the governorship election held within the state on September 21, 2024.
The Supreme Courtroom dominated that there was no justification to overturn the concurrent judgments of each the Courtroom of Enchantment and the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which had earlier declared Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the legitimate winner of the election.
The courtroom held that the appellant failed to supply credible and admissible proof to help his claims that the election was marred by irregularities, together with over-voting and substantial non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act.
