Veteran journalist and writer, Dele Momodu, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Social gathering (PDP), citing a takeover of the celebration by “antidemocratic forces.”
Momodu introduced his departure in a letter dated July 17 and addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 4, Ihievbe, Owan East Native Authorities Space of Edo State.
The media mogul and shut ally of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar didn’t mince phrases in expressing his frustration with the present state of the celebration.
“I want to inform you of my resolution to resign from our political celebration, PDP, with fast impact,” Momodu wrote.
“My purpose is easy and easy. Our celebration has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from inside and outdoors, in broad daylight.”
Describing the PDP as a “carcass,” Momodu added, “It’s subsequently honorable to desert the carcass of the celebration to them whereas majority of us earnestly enroll with the brand new coalition celebration generally known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
Momodu’s exit comes after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar resigned from the PDP in a letter dated July 14, equally citing irreconcilable variations and deviation from the celebration’s founding beliefs.
