The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his latest remark alleging that President Bola Tinubu is “competing with Buhari in incompetence,” describing it as laughable and “disgracefully hypocritical.”
APC’s spokesman in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, in an announcement, stated: “It’s ironic {that a} man whose tenure is remembered extra for political conceitedness, squandered alternatives, and failed democratic subversion would have the audacity to label anybody incompetent.”
The assertion continued:
“Allow us to remind Nigerians that beneath Obasanjo, billions spent on the ability sector vanished with out outcomes. He left the economic system with extra international debt than he met, regardless of claiming to have paid it off. His notorious third-term agenda almost plunged the nation right into a constitutional disaster. And corruption thrived beneath the guise of reforms.
“If Nigeria continues to be recovering from years of structural decay, Obasanjo bears an enormous share of the blame. The rot didn’t begin with Buhari, and it actually isn’t being deepened by Tinubu—it began lengthy earlier than, beneath leaders who now fake to be saints.
“President Tinubu has taken choices no earlier chief had the braveness to take. Eradicating gasoline subsidies, overhauling the international alternate regime, and confronting entrenched inefficiencies are usually not indicators of incompetence, however daring actions by a pacesetter decided to repair what others, together with Obasanjo, both broke or ignored.
“Obasanjo’s bitterness is well-known. He can not management this authorities and resents that Nigeria has moved on from his model of selfish, do-or-die politics. His behavior of attacking sitting presidents after shedding relevance has turn out to be predictable and pathetic.
“We strongly advise the previous president to point out some decorum, particularly at his age. Elders are anticipated to advise, not agitate. If he has nothing constructive to say, silence would serve him—and the nation—higher than these attention-seeking outbursts.
“President Tinubu shouldn’t be in competitors with Obasanjo or anybody else. He’s targeted on the long run. Nigeria is on a path of reform, restoration, and renewal—and no quantity of potshots from bitter yesterday’s males will derail that journey.”
