The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has suspended actress Shirley Igwe indefinitely for allegedly assaulting a crew member throughout a movie manufacturing in Lagos.
Shirley’s suspension was introduced in a letter dated July 19 and signed by Emeka Rollas, AGN nationwide president, on behalf of filmmaking regulatory our bodies.
The incident occurred on a movie set in Lagos the place the actress allegedly slapped a crew member throughout an altercation.
The guild mentioned it discovered the actress responsible of “skilled misconduct, violence, and indiscipline”.
The AGN mentioned such behaviour violates its code of conduct and will injury the repute of the performing occupation.
“Following our preliminary investigations into the allegation of violence levelled towards actress Shirley Igwe on a movie set in Lagos, the Nationwide Government Council (NEC) has resolved to put her on indefinite suspension,” the letter reads.
“This suspension is because of her skilled misconduct, violence, and indiscipline, actions able to discrediting the performing occupation. These offences contravene the actors’ code of conduct and are punishable by constitutional provisions.”
AGN additionally issued a directive barring its members from working with Shirley on any movie venture.
“Members are hereby directed to chorus from taking part in any movie manufacturing involving her,” it added.
