An Abuja-based lawyer, Ibitade Bukola, alongside along with her co-defendant Victor Giwa dealing with costs of doc forgery and impersonation of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) , Awa Kalu, has been granted bail within the sum of ₦30 million by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Excessive Courtroom sitting in Maitama.
Through the bail listening to, counsel to the second defendant, Ogbu Aboje, urged the courtroom to confess his shopper to bail pending trial. He argued that the defendant poses no flight threat and can be obtainable to face trial.
Nonetheless, the prosecuting counsel, Erisco Asaph, opposed the appliance, citing Sections 37 and 115 of the Proof Act. He argued that granting bail wouldn’t serve the curiosity of justice and urged the courtroom to ignore the counter-affidavit filed by the defence.
After listening to arguments from either side, Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie dominated in favour of the bail software. The courtroom granted the second defendant bail within the sum of ₦30 million, with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties have to be civil servants not beneath Grade Degree 16, residing inside Abuja, and should current verifiable addresses and legitimate technique of identification. Moreover, the defendant was ordered to deposit her worldwide passport with the courtroom.
