    Sheffield Wednesday slapped with three-window ban, can’t pay a fee for a player until 2027

    Sheffield Wednesday have been prevented from signing gamers for switch charges for the following three home windows because the row over unpaid wages continues.

    The Championship membership have been hit with the ban this morning after the EFL confirmed they’d missed fee deadlines for wages between July 2024 and June 2025.

    It means Wednesday, who completed twelfth within the second tier final season underneath Danny Rohl, can’t pay a payment for a participant till the January window opens in 2027.

    An EFL assertion learn: “The EFL can verify that Sheffield Wednesday Soccer Membership is now topic to a three-window payment restriction after exceeding 30 days of late funds between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2025.

    “In accordance with EFL Laws, the restriction will cowl everything of this summer time’s window and two full home windows thereafter (Winter 2026 and Summer season 2026).

    “The Membership has notified the EFL of its intention to enchantment this resolution and this will likely be heard sooner or later.

    “Individually, on 3 June 2025, the EFL issued fees towards the Membership and proprietor Mr Dejphon Chansiri in respect of non-payment of Participant wages in March 2025 and Could 2025.
