    Fake procurement jobs: UNILAG raises alarm over impersonation of VC

    The administration of the College of Lagos, UNILAG, has raised alarm over the actions of some individuals claiming to have procurement contracts with the establishment and likewise claiming to be working for the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola.

    In a press release by the Head of Communication Unit, Alhaja Alaga Adejoke Ibraheem, the college stated the fraudsters have been contacting people utilizing social media and making claims that have been false.

    “The College of Lagos (UNILAG), Nigeria, has acquired experiences of people impersonating our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, in a procurement rip-off.

    “Studies point out that these fraudsters have contacted people through social media (LinkedIn, Fb, X and WhatsApp), falsely claiming to be the Vice-Chancellor and making an attempt to orchestrate sham procurement processes for laptops/computer systems, with fabricated necessities for secrecy, upfront funds and improper monetary preparations.

    “These people went so far as proposing an unlawful 60/40 profit-sharing scheme and directing communications to personal e mail addresses reasonably than official UNILAG domains.

    “Let or not it’s unequivocally clear: The College of Lagos conducts all procurement actions via clear, aggressive processes in full compliance with Nigerian procurement legal guidelines.

    “At no time would any official consultant of UNILAG, least of all of the Vice-Chancellor, request upfront funds, suggest kickback preparations, or conduct official enterprise via private e mail accounts or social media platforms. Any such communication ought to be thought-about fraudulent and reported instantly.

    “We’ve got already taken swift motion by escalating this matter to the suitable regulation enforcement businesses. The college is cooperating absolutely with investigators to determine and prosecute these liable for this prison impersonation.
