Hon. Chinedu Ogah, the Home of Representatives member for Ezza South/Ikwo Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State, has dismissed allegations of genocide in opposition to Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, calling them baseless and deceptive.

The claims had been made by human rights activist Mrs. Pleasure Idam, who accused the governor of committing genocide in opposition to the Amasiri neighborhood amid a protracted land dispute with a neighbouring space.

Talking at a press briefing, Ogah urged Idam to apologise, describing her statements as inflammatory and disconnected from the fact on the bottom. He highlighted that the governor has taken proactive measures to resolve communal conflicts, restore peace, and sort out insecurity throughout Ebonyi State.

“Earlier than Governor Nwifuru’s administration, almost ten communities had been engaged in numerous communal clashes. At present, most of those conflicts have been resolved by proactive engagement and people-centred governance,” Ogah stated.

He defined that following renewed tensions in Amasiri, a panel was constituted to analyze the dispute, and a brief curfew was imposed to forestall additional violence. The curfew has since been relaxed as peace returned.

Ogah additionally famous the governor’s achievements in youth empowerment, infrastructure growth, and inclusive governance, citing abroad scholarships for about 400 Ebonyi youths and ongoing classroom development initiatives.

He argued that Idam, who has been absent from the state for years, lacks firsthand information and due to this fact ought to retract her claims.

“The allegation of genocide is totally false. The governor has labored tirelessly to make sure peace, stability, and growth in Ebonyi State,” Ogah concluded.
