    MINNA—Unlawful miners on Thursday launched a lethal assault on a joint safety patrol in Niger State, killing an officer of the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and setting ablaze an operational Hilux car throughout an enforcement operation in opposition to unlawful mining.
