    AFCON 2025: CAF fines Algeria $100,000 over player misconduct against Nigeria

    The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined the Algerian Soccer Federation (FAF) $100,000 fantastic and imposed participant suspensions following disciplinary breaches that marred Algeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final conflict in opposition to Nigeria.

    CAF outlined the breakdown of the sanctions as follows:

    $5,000 for the improper conduct of the Algerian nationwide group, after 5 gamers had been cautioned, in violation of Article 130(a) of the CAF Disciplinary Code.

    $25,000 for inappropriate behaviour by gamers and officers after the match, deemed to have introduced the sport into disrepute, opposite to Articles 82 and 83.

    $5,000 for using smoke bombs by supporters.

    $5,000 for objects thrown onto the pitch.

    $10,000 for failure to adjust to safety measures, following makes an attempt by supporters to breach safety obstacles.

    $50,000 for offensive and abusive gestures, particularly the show of banknotes directed at match officers.

    CAF stated the cumulative sanctions underline its dedication to clamp down on conduct that undermines the credibility, security and picture of African soccer.
