    Badagry declares week-long mourning for Akran

    The Chairman of Badagry Native Authorities Space of Lagos, Mr Babatunde Hunpe, has declared seven days of mourning for the late Akran of Badagry, Aholu Menu Toyi 1, who died on Monday.

    The chairman made the declaration in Badagry, whereas formally saying the dying of the royal father, by way of his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Austin Kriko.

    “With the approval of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, I formally announce with profound sorrow the passing of His Royal Majesty, De Wheno Aholu Menu Toyi I, the Akran of Badagry Kingdom.

    “Akran peacefully joined his ancestors on Monday, Jan. 12, after a protracted, illustrious, dignified, and impactful reign, dedicated to peace, unity, and the preservation of Badagry’s wealthy and enduring cultural heritage,” he stated.

    The chairman declared seven days of mourning, throughout which he enjoined the folks of Badagry to replicate on the late Akran’s selfless management, timeless values and lifelong devotion to the council, Lagos and Nigeria at massive.

    “His Royal Majesty was greater than a monarch; he was a residing bridge between the previous and the longer term, a revered custodian of custom, and an ethical compass to his folks.

    “Akran was a father whose counsel, knowledge, and benevolence touched all who got here inside his embrace.

    “I prolong my deepest condolences to the Council of Obas and Chiefs in Badagry Native Authorities and Lagos State, the royal household, and your complete folks of Badagry,” he stated.

    The Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) stories that Gov. Sanwo-Olu had, on Monday, expressed deep sorrow over the dying of Akran.

    He had described the passing of the late conventional ruler as a painful loss to Badagry, Lagos State and the nation at massive.

    In a condolence message issued by way of his Particular Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, the governor stated that the transition of Akran marked the top of an period.
