    Tinubu mourns emeritus Professor, Sunday Ajayi

    ABUJA —PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has expressed unhappiness over the passing of 82-year-old Emeritus Professor Seth Sunday Ajayi, the revered Nigerian scholar and pioneer of Wildlife and Fisheries Administration.

    President Tinubu in a press release on Tuesday, stated the Mopa, Kogi State-born Professor of Wildlife Ecology, served Nigeria and humanity by means of his improvements in Wildlife and Fisheries administration worldwide.

    “Emeritus Professor Ajayi was an enormous. The story of his life is laced with many firsts, leaving indelible footprints throughout the realms of Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, Academia, Innovation and Technological Growth.

    “His pioneering scientific analysis offered the muse for the domestication and conservation of key African wildlife species, notably the African Large Rat, the Grasscutter, and the Nigerian Helmeted Guinea Fowl.

    “These globally acclaimed breakthroughs created sustainable pathways for elevated animal protein provide in Africa whereas safeguarding biodiversity and stopping species extinction.

    “His modern approaches to wildlife conservation on the United Nations Meals and Agriculture Organisation (UNFAO), United Nations Growth Programme(UNDP), the German Basis for Worldwide Growth and within the United Nations Environmental Programme made Nigeria proud,” the President stated.

    In recognition of Ajayi’s contributions to science and humanity, the United Nations Surroundings Programme (UNEP) inducted him into the International 500 Roll of Honour in 1994.

    He was additionally conferred with the Nigerian Nationwide Order of Advantage (NNOM) in 2013.

    President Tinubu prolonged his condolences to Ajayi’s household, buddies and associates, the Authorities and other people of Kogi State, in addition to the Nigerian Environmental Sciences neighborhood, over the lack of the devoted skilled.

    The President prayed for the repose of Ajayi’s soul.
