    Ex-Army chief Yahaya dismisses links to financing terrorism

    Former Chief of Military Employees, retired Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has dismissed as false and malicious allegations linking him to people purportedly concerned in terrorism financing.

    The allegation, credited to retired Maj.-Gen. Danjuma Ali-Keffi and revealed by Sahara Reporters, claimed the previous military chief had ties to suspected terror financiers.

    However Yahaya, in a press release issued on his behalf by retired Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, on Saturday in Abuja, described the claims as “spurious, baseless and completely unfaithful.”

    “At no level in his profession, earlier than, throughout, or after serving as Chief of Military Employees, did Lt.-Gen. Yahaya have any direct or oblique affiliation with anybody concerned in terrorism financing or actions that undermine nationwide safety,” he stated.

    Yahaya accused Ali-Keffi of pursuing a “private vendetta” rooted in disciplinary actions taken in opposition to him whereas in service, including that the publication was malicious and devoid of factual basis.

    He additionally faulted Sahara Reporters for publishing the allegations with out verification, saying doing so was irresponsible and damaging to public belief.

    “These allegations run opposite to Gen. Yahaya’s impeccable service file, skilled integrity and lifelong dedication to the defence of Nigeria,” the assertion added.

    The previous military chief demanded a right away retraction from Ali-Keffi, Sahara Reporters and others circulating the report, warning that failure to take action would entice authorized motion to guard his identify and repute.

    He reaffirmed his dedication to Nigeria’s combat in opposition to terrorism, saying the nationwide effort required “accountability, patriotism and fact, not propaganda pushed by private grudges.” (NAN)
