    Akpabio: I cry over killings in Plateau, Tinubu will restore peace

    Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed deep sorrow over the persistent insecurity in Plateau State, saying he “cries every time anybody is killed” within the state.

    Akpabio made the remarks on Saturday on the Jos Polo Discipline throughout an All Progressives Congress (APC) occasion to welcome defectors into the social gathering.

    The gathering attracted prime APC leaders from the North-Central zone, together with APC Nationwide Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Senator and former Plateau Governor Simon Lalong, and different notable figures equivalent to Deputy Speaker of the Home of Representatives Benjamin Kalu, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, and Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia.

    Highlighting the toll of insecurity in Plateau, Akpabio lamented the lack of lives and destruction of properties, assuring that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to restoring peace within the state.

    “Too many lives have been misplaced. Too many properties destroyed. Plateau deserves peace, and anybody who desires to control this state should be dedicated to peace,” he mentioned. “I cry every time anyone is killed in Plateau. The state is searching for peace, and President Tinubu will ship peace to Plateau State.”

    The Senate President additionally praised political defectors who joined the APC, stating that the social gathering would safe victory in Plateau in 2027. He acknowledged the management of APC Nationwide Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, describing him as “a person of valour, integrity, and dignity,” and credited President Tinubu’s management for the social gathering’s rising affect within the state.

    Among the many notable defectors have been Istifanus Gyang, former senator representing Plateau North; Latep Dabang, former director-general of the PDP marketing campaign in Plateau throughout the 2023 elections; Patrick Dakum, former Labour Get together governorship candidate; and Alfred Dabwam, former NNPP governorship candidate.

    Plateau State has been one of many worst-hit areas within the North-Central area, with recurring violent assaults leading to deaths and mass displacement of residents.
