Olabode George, former Deputy Nationwide Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Celebration (PDP), has condemned the invasion of the celebration’s nationwide secretariat by uniformed safety personnel, describing the motion as a harmful affront to democracy and the rule of legislation.

George said this on Wednesday throughout a press convention at his workplace in Ikoyi, Lagos, noting that the “brigandage” was carried out in live performance with a minority faction of the celebration.

The Atona Oodua maintained that the invasion, which occurred after the judgment stopping the PDP conference, was an unlawful and illegal act by safety brokers, including that it was a transparent recipe for anarchy.

In a 31 October judgment, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal Excessive Court docket ordered the stoppage of the PDP’s conference scheduled for 15 and 16 November in Ibadan, Oyo State.

George identified that the judgment triggered the invasion of the celebration’s nationwide secretariat in Abuja by uniformed safety personnel appearing alongside a minority faction.

“What a travesty of justice. The deployment of uniformed personnel into the non-public chambers of a significant political celebration is a direct assault on democratic values and the liberty of political affiliation assured by our Structure.

“This motion undermines public confidence, threatens nationwide stability, and sends a harmful sign to the worldwide neighborhood in regards to the state of democracy in Nigeria.

“In his judgment stopping the PDP conference, Justice Omotosho is attempting to drive his private judicial opinion into the sacred judicial interpretation of the apex courtroom of the land.”

Persevering with, the elder statesman added: “The Supreme Court docket mentioned the judiciary has no proper to dabble into a celebration’s inner affairs. So, on this judgment, Justice Omotosho is clearly unsuitable.

“That is judicial rascality. It must be condemned by all Nigerians, the CJN and the NJC. Justice Omotosho desires to set Nigeria on fireplace and destroy this democracy the way in which the First and Second Republics have been destroyed by some judges and the political class.

“His judgment is the joke of the century — an open recipe for anarchy and a show of judicial brigandage.

“Justice Omotosho dominated that proof adduced earlier than him established that the PDP did not adjust to provisions of the 1999 Structure (as amended), tips of the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC), in addition to its personal Structure. Who instructed him this?

“INEC officers monitored our congresses. He didn’t invite INEC officers to ask them what occurred throughout our congresses. So, on what proof did he base his judgment?”

George referred to as on the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the Nationwide Judicial Council to name the decide to order.

“Any judgment able to resulting in a breakdown of legislation and order must be prevented. What energy does he should order the PDP to not have its nationwide conference? Has the judiciary gone to the canines? As I mentioned earlier, throughout all our congresses resulting in this conference, INEC officers have been current,” George mentioned.
