Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the reported assault and detention of Omoyele Sowore by the Inspector-Common of Police (IGP) Monitoring Workforce, calling it an abuse of energy.
Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Get together (PDP) in 2023, made the assertion on Thursday by his verified Fb web page.
He described the therapy of Sowore as “shameful, illegal, and a private vendetta.”
Sowore, a human rights activist and writer of Sahara Reporters, was reportedly attacked by law enforcement officials at daybreak, crushed, had his arm damaged, and sprayed with chemical substances after honouring a police invitation over a petition stated to have come from the IGP’s workplace.
Atiku stated Sowore’s solely offence was talking out towards injustice, corruption, and dangerous management.
