Former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Celebration (PDP), saying the social gathering failed at offering credible management to rescue Nigeria from its present challenges.
Melaye introduced his resignation in a letter dated July 4, 2025, and addressed to the PDP chairman in Ward 1, Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Native Authorities Space of Kogi State.
The letter was shared publicly on Thursday through his official X (previously Twitter) account.
“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Celebration in any respect ranges of involvement,” Melaye wrote.
He attributed his choice to what he described because the PDP’s “lack of efficiency and capability… to ship the Nigerian folks from the prevailing political cankerworms which have eaten deeply into the material of our pricey nation.”
“Having rigorously mirrored on the state of the social gathering, I can not in good conscience take part within the actions of the social gathering or lend my assist to her agenda,” he added.
Melaye, who was the PDP’s governorship candidate in Kogi State in the course of the 2023 election, stated his departure adopted deep introspection concerning the path of the social gathering.
“In view of the above, please think about this as my formal withdrawal from the social gathering and all its actions in any respect ranges with speedy impact,” the letter concluded.
