    Army dismisses report on promotion, pay delay under Oluyede

    The Nigerian Military has dismissed as false and malicious a report by an internet medium, alleging complaints by personnel over delayed promotions and stagnant pay beneath the management of the Chief of Military Employees (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.

    The Appearing Director, Military Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, refuted the allegation in a press release on Saturday in Abuja.

    Anele stated that promotions within the service have been strictly guided by benefit, laid-down standards, and availability of vacancies as stipulated within the 2024 Armed Forces of Nigeria Harmonized Phrases and Situations of Service (HTACOS) for Troopers/Rankings/Airmen.

    “Paragraph 04.01 of HTACOS clearly states that promotion is granted in recognition of arduous work, professionalism, and effectivity.

    “No personnel bypasses these processes. Any change in timeline is predicated strictly on skilled requirements, not private discretion,” she clarified.

    Anele additionally emphasised that the rules guiding promotions have been clear, detailed, and consistent with world army finest practices—masking all ranks from Personal to Military Warrant Officer.

    On the claims of stagnant pay, the Military spokesperson clarified that remuneration changes fall beneath the constitutional mandate of applicable federal establishments and never the discretionary management of the military management.

    She highlighted welfare reforms instituted by the COAS since his assumption of workplace, together with the doubling of Ration Money Allowance and the enlargement of the Nigerian Military Welfare Mortgage Scheme to assist personnel in small-scale enterprises and asset acquisition.

    “These are amongst a number of welfare programmes initiated to enhance the lives of personnel and their households,” she added.

    Anele described the net medium as a platform with “a protracted historical past of anti-military bias and sensationalism”.

    She urged the general public to ignore the publication, citing the anonymity of its sources as an indication of its lack of credibility.

    “The Nigerian Military stays an expert and disciplined establishment, guided by due course of, and won’t be distracted by propaganda from discredited platforms searching for to destabilise troop morale and cohesion.

    “The military reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, professionalism, and the welfare of its personnel in service to the nation,” she added.
