“I went in opposition to the PDP within the final election just because I believed the celebration would stand for fairness, equity, and justice — rules they sadly didn’t uphold,” Ortom mentioned.

He recalled being a part of a 20-man committee tasked with recommending an appropriate operating mate for Atiku. In line with him, 16 members of the committee, together with himself, voted in favour of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, however the advice was ignored.

“Someway, the candidate and people in management positions throughout the celebration determined to work in opposition to him,” Ortom acknowledged.

The previous governor, a outstanding member of the G5 Governors — a gaggle of 5 PDP governors who opposed Atiku’s candidacy — mentioned their agitation was largely pushed by the necessity for an influence shift to southern Nigeria.

“Whereas the G5 agenda was additionally about pursuits, our unique purpose was to have a southern candidate, and I’m glad {that a} southern candidate finally emerged as President,” he mentioned.
